They acted on the deathbed instruction of the late Mamman, who reportedly died on 28 March 2020. The deceased was said to have instructed his family members to return an equivalent amount of his salary for 11 years to the state government.

The family said he attended work for only 2 or 3 days weekly (instead of the statutory 5 days) due to age and health constraints. The late Baba-Aji Mamman ordered a refund of assumed unearned salaries for up to 11 years, to the tune of N11m (eleven million naira) back to the state government account.

The family consequently raised the amount and paid as instructed to Access Bank account 0765651829 (Yobe State Government IGR account).
