The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced signing of a €9.3m agreement for interconnected mini-grid Acceleration Scheme (IMAS), to be granted local solar mini-grid developers.
The Scheme is expected to boost the country’s power supply by 5.4-kilowatts and to power 27,600 households, in line with Nigeria’s vision of generating a minimum of 30,000 megawatt electricity by 2030.
The project is coordinated by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) with support from the European Union and the German government, through the Nigerian Energy Support Programme (NESP).
